ISO 14001
Eco is the first
establishment in Kuwait
to be "Self Declared as ISO 14001Complier" since June 1999.
Dr. Faten Al-Attar is the first Kuwaiti to be
a certified as Associate Environmental Auditor by IEMA, UK.
What
is ISO 14000?
ISO is series of international Standards (technical and generic) set by
a non governmental organization called the "International
Organization for Standardization". In 1991 the International
Standards Organization established a Strategic Advisory Group on
Environment to investigate all areas of environmental management and to
develop standards in order to be used as models for environmental
management.
The
environmental standards family is as follows:
ISO 4001:
Environmental management systems. Specification with guidelines for
use.
ISO 14004:
Environmental management systems. General guidelines on principles,
systems and supporting techniques.
ISO 14010:
Guidelines for environmental auditing. General principals on
environmental auditing.
ISO 14011:
Guidelines for environmental auditing. Auditing procedures.

Guidelines for environmental auditing. Qualification criteria for
auditors.
ISO 14015:
Environmental site assessment.
ISO 14020:
Environmental labels and declaration. General principles.

What
is Environmental Management?
Environmental management is the management of any firm activities that
have or might have an impact on the environment. Environmental
management tools include environmental Policies; EMS;
environmental auditing; environmental indicators; eco-balances;
life-cycle assessment; environmental labeling; environmental reporting
and environmental charters.
What
is EMS?
Number of interrelated elements functioning together to achieve the
objective of effective environmental management.
